Oteng Keabetswe is an accomplished finance and investment executive with extensive experience across Africa in debt financing, mezzanine and leveraged finance, real estate investment and private equity. On 1 August 2025, he was appointed Caretaker Managing Director of Botswana Development Corporation (BDC), bringing over a decade of strategic leadership in corporate finance, governance, and investment management. A results-driven leader, Oteng has successfully led complex transactions, structured large-scale financing solutions, and overseen transformative growth initiatives in both public and private sector institutions. His expertise spans strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, corporate governance, and balance sheet optimisation, making him a trusted driver of sustainable value creation.

Oteng’s career journey includes holding various senior investment roles at BDC, culminating in his current leadership position. Prior to this, he served at GRIT Real Estate Income Group in Mauritius as Group Chief Investment Officer and later as Group Executive: Corporate Advisory & Debt, where he spearheaded landmark transactions.  

In addition to his executive roles, Oteng has held multiple board and governance positions, including with Letlole La Rona (LLR), Coca-Cola Beverages Botswana, Export Credit Insurance & Guarantee Company (BECI), Fairgrounds Holdings, and Masawara Holdings PLC, often chairing finance and audit committees and championing governance excellence.

He holds an MSc in Finance (Banking) from SOAS, University of London, a BA (Hons) in Finance, Accounting and Management from the University of Nottingham. He is a fellow of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCMA) as well as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (ACMA, CGMA). His professional development includes the Advanced Management Programme at WITS Business School and the Oxford Private Equity Programme at Said Business School. With a proven record of driving financial growth, strategic transformation, and governance standards, Oteng continues to shape Botswana’s investment landscape through visionary leadership at BDC.
