Celebrating Achievers to Drive Future Prosperity BDC Engages with Ramotswa Centre for the Deaf
RAMOTSWA – As the investment arm of Botswana Government, Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) understands that in the pursuit of its mandate of establishing and developing commercially viable business in Botswana, it is just as important to invest in the encouragement of young learners in the pursuit of excellence. To this end, BDC joined the Ramotswa Centre for the Deaf on Friday September 16 2016 in their school prize giving ceremony for students who had achieved exceptional performances in their studies.
“In our organisation, we greatly value talent and we are committed to the harnessing of the brilliant minds that have made this Corporation what it is today. We were therefore greatly honoured to share in the celebration of the Society’s young achievers, who are our future. They, and their peers, will grow up to be Botswana’s future leaders and shapers of our industries. Just as a tree comes from a seed that has been planted in fertile soil that needs to be nurtured, we equally take pride in nurturing our relationships with such Societies by way of engagement and assistance in kind where possible, to make an impact that builds our youth. Changing Botswana’s industries begins in our homes and most importantly in our schools. We are therefore avid supporters of the educational and psychosocial sectors, as we share their belief that we need to celebrate excellence from youth in order to influence the kind of working culture that goes on to drive socioeconomic growth across our nation. The journey of growth and transformation in every nation, starts in the mind of the learning child.” said BDC Head of Human Capital, Ms. Thabile Moipolai
Under the Corporation’s CSR Programme to drive sustainable impact in communities that are in need, BDC has undertaken several projects to assist learners with disabilities. In 2008, BDC built a classroom block for the Botswana Society for the Deaf (BOSPED) at their Francistown centre and more recently, the donation of a 17-seater Mercedes Benz Sprinter Mini bus to Ramotswa Centre for the Deaf.
“We wish to thank Ramotswa Centre for the Deaf for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of their community. We congratulate these young achievers and wish them continued success and hope their efforts will inspire their peers to work hard towards their success. It is our wish that our community service efforts from over the years are not only making a real impact in this organisation and their students’ learnings, but that we are part of the growing story of realising our Botswana culture of Botho in everyday business across our industries.” concluded Ms. Moipolai
The Corporation continues to work with local communities to drive sustainable impact through the mandate of the BDC CSR Programme.
