Botswana Development Corporation Limited (BDC) was established in 1970 to be the country's main agency for commercial and industrial development. The Government of Botswana owns 100 percent of the issued share capital of the Corporation.

In the year 2007, BDC Limited launched a new four year Strategic Plan (2007-2011) through which the BDC Limited once again pledges its commitment to remain the leading innovative investor, trusted and most experienced equity partner, loan financier and leading commercial and Industrial property developer in the country.
