PROJECT AMOUNT : P13, 788.00

Date: 8 June 2012

BDC through its Corporate Social Responsibility Committee handed over a cheque of P13 788.00 to the Digwana Traditional Dance Group on Friday 8th June 2012.

This CSR initiative was a response to a request by the dance group to assist with funds that will be used to procure new professional dance attire for its members.

Speaking at the event Mr. Thero Kebakuile, the director of the group, said that he was delighted at the assistance BDC extended towards the group and the performing arts of Botswana in encouraging the development of local talent.

He said that this was the beginning of a long-term relationship with BDC and hoped that the new attire will make the dance group much more appealing to its audience and fans.

BDC’s CC&PR Manager, Mr. Gomolemo Zimona said that the Corporation decided to help the dance group as it was part of the Corporations CSR policy to assist the performing arts industry of Botswana by identifying opportunities to develop local musical talent.

He said the Corporation prides itself with having assisted many local groups including a recent sponsorship of Culture Spears to perform at the African Day celebrations in Washington DC.

He encouraged the group to take advantage of the many opportunities that exist and to cultivate its talent so as to become one of the leading traditional dance groups in Botswana.
