BDC Participated at the BOCCIM Northern Trade Fair 2008

To complement government’s efforts in diversifying Botswana’s economy, Botswana Development Corporation Limited took a giant leap by participating in the 2008 Botswana Confederation of Commerce Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) Northern Trade Fair.

With this year’s BOCCIM fair theme: ‘Making SMMEs Competent for Sustainable Economic Growth’ BDC found it fitting to spread the economic diversification message to the people.

Speaking on the sidelines of the show, BDC Public Affairs Officer, Boitshwarelo Lebang said the theme was well suited and in line with BDC’ mandate of shifting the country’s economic reliance from the mining sector alone. She further said BDC was continuously preaching the message of diversification to its clients, which are mainly medium to large scale.

She further said expansion opportunities could also mean creating down stream projects which could directly benefit SMMEs. She gave an example of a tannery industry creating down stream projects like making of leather products such as belts, bags and ornamental goods which could directly benefit an SMME.

The show was fairly well organized and attracted a good number of visitors who were asking good questions and keen to learn more about business expansion opportunities as well as the products that BDC offers.
