BDC Participates in Vision 2016 Launch Activities

In an effort to educate the public and other stakeholders about the Corporation’s mandate, products and services, BDC participated at the Annual Vision 2016 launch activities held in Jackalas No.1 Village in the North East District on the 3rd to 4th September 2010.

The theme for Vision 2016 events is “Turning challenges into opportunities, the journey continues”. His Honour The Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, Lt. Gen Mompati Merafhe launched the event which was attended by key stakeholders from all districts of Botswana.

The BDC team informed the public about its mandate, products and services. The agribusiness products was especially appealing to the customers who flocked to the BDC stall, as many wanted to know if BDC can finance them to in agricultural ventures.

Boitshwarelo Lebang, BDC Principal Public Affairs Officer explained that BDC Agribusiness Division’s mandate is to help grow the fledgling agricultural sector in Botswana. “The importance of this sector cannot be overemphasized, with the need for the country to produce its own food being recognised as one of the best ways to reduce reliance on imports.

In conclusion she mentioned that the full range of products offered by BDC, including long term loans and equity, are available to investors looking to invest in agricultural projects.

Many of the customers who attended the commemorations were impressed with the BDC products and services, and expressed hope that the corporation will visit them again in future.
