Botswana Development Corporation Supports Development of Quality Education and Economic Growth

BDC donates PA System to Mahupu C.J.S.S

Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) is committed to economic development and social upliftment of all Batswana. This was said by the Chairman of  BDC’s Corporate  Social Responsibility Committee Mr Simon Meti while addressing teachers and students of Mahupu Community Junior Secondary School during a prize giving ceremony  in Takatokwane recently. Mr Meti said BDC provides financial   assistance in  projects which generate sustainable employment and enhance the skills of the local workforce. He also said BDC stimulates growth by participating   in different industries to ensure diversification of the economy and assist local and foreign investors in establishing commercial and industrial businesses.

Mr Meti  further said BDC encourages citizen participation in business ventures and continues to take a proactive role in the skills development of Batswana in the areas of business and investment .He said quality education, especially business oriented courses are important for both diversification and  driving the country’s economy forward . “It necessitates prosperity , productivity and creative innovation in our country, “ he  noted.

Mr Meti called upon Mahupu C.JS.S students not to engage in alcohol and substance abuse as it can destroy their future. He said they should develop their talents in all areas of their education including co- curricular activities. He said like other responsible parents, he was concerned that some youth country – wide face psycho –social challenges which result in them conducting themselves irresponsibly. He advised them to seek help from professional counselors and their parents.

He thanked teachers and parents for their commitment towards the development of their children and donated a Public Address System to the School.
