Managing Director’s Message -2011

Our 40 year history and experience in development finance, coupled with our determination to embrace opportunities arising from the recent global recession continues to illuminate our future. In understanding the growth and development of large scale commercial and industrial enterprises, the dynamics of technology, the ebb and flow of entrepreneurship values, and the changing assumptions about the world economy, we believe we are once again ready to offer more flexible financial solutions to our customers this year.   We have widened our radar scans to identify new opportunities for growth to enhance local businesses and contribute to revitalizing Botswana’s economy.

We believe that we are the best in investment financing in the region and our performance during the past turbulent financial year has shown that the Corporation is focused and well positioned to face all challenges head on and maximise shareholder value and boost investor confidence. Not only did the Corporation perform well financially, but also succeeded in establishing new businesses and transforming existing ones in line with our four year strategy which started in 2007. We have successfully divested from mature companies and increased private sector participation in the ownership of these businesses.

Currently,  the Corporation is in the process of formulating a new strategy focused on growing the private sector and creating a more competitive business environment  which will contribute to economic diversification .This will be achieved through provision of our premium products and services, namely: Loan Financing; Equity Participation, Invoice  Discounting; and Provisions of Commercial, Industrial & Residential Premises.  

Our investment aim is to create jobs, develop entrepreneurial capacity and support strong economic growth in the country.
