BDC at BOCCIM Northern Trade Fair 2014
Botswana Development Corporation Limited (BDC) participated at the 2014 BOCCIM Northern Trade Fair that was held in Francistown from the 21st to 26th of May. The Corporation took part in the trade fair to sell its products and services to the business community in the greater Francistown area, create awareness and disseminate information to the general public at large.
BOCCIM is an association representing employers in all sectors of the Botswana economy in an advocacy capacity. BOCCIM trade fair is an initiative that provides a platform for businesses to network, market their products and services and to share information. The theme for this year’s fair was; Investment: My opportunity to play a role in an evolving global economy “Tapping into unlimited opportunity”.
This theme blends well with the #NewBDC as the Corporation is looking to invest in un-tapped and under-invested sectors such as Energy, Innovation and Technology as well as Agriculture locally. In the medium to long-term period the aim is to move into Cross-border financing, which will see an expansion into the region. The aim of the fair was to set a different tone in the business sector through a holistic approach of facilitating a good business environment and also make it a networking platform of choice. The fair presented a significant opportunity for BDC to position itself and reach out to its stakeholders, including potential customers in a relaxed and interactive environment. It has been through such platforms that BDC has managed to reach out to greater areas of Botswana and cover a wider population range.
BDC subsidiaries and affiliated companies that also took part included Cresta Hospitality, Metropolitan Botswana and Kwena Rocla which won the best designed stall in the manufacturing category.
